John & Melanie Smith Family: June 2011
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Thursday, June 30, 2011. I need someone to give me permission to spend an entire day doing nothing but updating the blog with the many simple events the last couple of months have been made up of. I get up in the morning and think if I can just get this, this and this done then I'll LET myself blog a bit. Somehow I never seem to get to that point. Somehow today is already Thursday. What a great gift! I would never have thought of that.). Check on flights to potential destin...

John & Melanie Smith Family: January 2012
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. It's time for a new year. It's time for new goals to be set, new things to achieve, new decisions to be made, new challenges to tackle, new joys to be had, and so much more. It's a time for fun family reunions - Riley's home and Austin will be sooner than we know. It's time to blog more! It's the only journal of events I have in the works and it has suffered. I need to give myself permission to do it. What a great year awaits. LIFE AS A SWENSEN!

John & Melanie Smith Family: November 2011
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. A Day of Thanksgiving! Someday, I will be a great cook and a great baker and make everything from scratch. In the next life that is. For now I am completely content (almost) to do things another way. Costco style. It's funner to have a group of friends and family over than know that I made it all myself. It will be a great meal with great people. Definitely a day of Thanksgiving. Spinach Aritchoke and Parmesan Dip. Rolls Our friends the Winders a...

Braden, Kris, and Kids: Once Upon a Time...
http://bradenkrisandkids.blogspot.com/2010/12/once-upon-time.html
Braden, Kris, and Kids. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Once Upon a Time. Once upon a time it was Thanksgiving. We invited a bunch of our dearest Florida friends to celebrate with us. Here's the grown-up table. Yes, those are turkey dishes and yes, I LOVE them! The kid's table. We tried to recreate this idea. The turkey. Braden out did himself! After dinner and dessert, we hung out, watched football, played games (on Nick's phone,) and discussed our Black Friday shopping strategies. The dishes are great!

Braden, Kris, and Kids: 6 or 8?
http://bradenkrisandkids.blogspot.com/2011/02/6-or-8.html
Braden, Kris, and Kids. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. This sweet boy celebrated his birthday over the weekend. Friday he celebrated at school, and Saturday and Sunday we celebrated at home. He figured that since he had three birthday celebrations he actually turned 6, 7, and 8! Not really, but he thought it was fun to joke about! Tio, Tia, and our friend Tyler joined us for dinner and cake. There was also our traditional breakfast in bed, gifts, and dinner at Cody's favorite restaurant. Awwww we LOVE Cody!

John & Melanie Smith Family: June 2012
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Monday, June 18, 2012. Welcome Home, Austin! My friend, Marji Winder surprised us with a big sign on the garage when Riley came home with yellow ribbons on the trees. So I knew just what to do to welcome Austin home. When she said she wanted to do it again - I said how about we do it together. I had already enlisted Macey's help and we had the supplies. The custom of tying a yellow ribbon around a tree to symbolize waiting love seems to go back at least as far as the days o...

John & Melanie Smith Family: October 2012
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Last football season in Florida, Parker fractured his hip socket at practice half way through the season. Two months on crutches got old pretty fast. I was a little surprised this year when he wanted to go at it a second time. Surprised but glad he enjoys it. He's #70 in case you couldn't tell. They practice every day after school for 1-1/2 hours except game day and the day after. Parker plays special teams and defense. Monday, October 22, 2012.

John & Melanie Smith Family: March 2011
http://johnandmelaniesmith.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
John and Melanie Smith Family. Friday, March 18, 2011. Stake had a first annual Mother/Daughter Day Out! So guess what Macey and I did? Macey and I might butt heads about a lot of things but she seems to love it when we get to do things 'just the two of us'! She's always asking, "when can just you and I . . ? I am grateful she wants to do things with me. I hope this will always be! We missed the scout garage sale (darn! Only 2nd one in 10yrs I've missed and longest one ever! We did a relay race where the...
