A Little Stitching

Thursday, March 26, 2015. A little Cross Stitching. Whilst away at Summer School, we were treated to a cross stitch lesson/refresher by Karen from The Stitching Post. In Katoomba. Karen also runs an online needlework shop Linen and Threads. And does the most beautiful cross stitch I've ever seen. Eeek, in taking this picture, I've just realised the bottom 2 pink flowers aren't finished. Tomorrow's job! I guess there is nothing like jumping in with both feet to the deep end! Tuesday, March 24, 2015. I'm c...

A Little Stitching: June 2014

http://alittlestitching.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 30, 2014. A Quilt comes home. I've been sending my large quilts off to be machine quilted for a long time. Last year I sent several tops to KoolKat quilting. In Queensland. A long way from me you might think, but Koolkat pays the postage both ways, so no problem at all. I was extremely happy with the quilting, so when I saw a KoolKat Facebook competition with edge to edge quilting as the prize I was excited to enter. Imagine my surprise to find I had won the competition! Roll Roll Cotton Boll.

A Little Stitching: Gathering In The Barn.

http://alittlestitching.blogspot.com/2014/04/gathering-in-barn.html

Friday, April 11, 2014. Gathering In The Barn. Last Saturday, I spent a lovely day stitching with very Good Friend, Gerry. We trecked off early in the morning to Wonga Park( Visa and passport at the ready! For a wonderful day with The Quilted Crow. The day started with a delicious morning tea and progressed upwards from there. Gerry and I both started stitching the lovely felted wool applique design on cotton fabric. This is such an easy method of applique- blanket stitching around woolen shapes. Ive nev...

A Little Stitching: March 2014

http://alittlestitching.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 31, 2014. A couple of months ago, I was perusing The Quilted Crow. Girls website. Much to my enjoyment, they were offering a new BOM based on an antique quilt they'd purchased. This quilt is quite "folk-arty", very chunky, and I found quite endearing to me. I signed up with a little trepidation- this quilt is over 100" square, but I do like large quilts. And I do love applique, so both boxes ticked. Thankfully, four borders cut and a tiny bit of left over. Saturday, March 8, 2014. Unfortuna...

A Little Stitching: December 2013

http://alittlestitching.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Woohoo, moving along with Clue Five in Bonnie Hunter's. Quiltville mystery. Please click on the link to see this weeks' fellow mystery stitchers. Starting off with some triangle cutting- 200 neutral triangles from 2" strips, and 100 blue triangles from 3 1/2" strips. Thank goodness we're using our blue now- I was wondering where that was coming in. So, using the 100 yellow and orange triangle squares, we add the neutral triangles to each side. Wednesday, December 25, 2013.

A little step towards Green

A little step towards Green. Ideas, tips, and notes about my path to living a more sustainable life. Friday, April 24, 2009. Vinegar - the almighty green cleaner. While vinegar doesn't have toxic fumes, you'll probably want to open a window because it does have a strong smell if you use it undiluted. The best part of using vinegar - you can buy a gallon bottle of store-brand vinegar for a few bucks. Much cheaper than pre-made cleaning supplies. Friday, January 16, 2009. Dec 31, 2009. Movies i loved, movies i want to see: 2009. While vainly compiling my best of music lists has been a tradition for at least one year, throwing together a bunch of movie titles is a new one for me. so cut me some slack. It's telling that my list of movies to-see is way longer than those i did watch in 2009. i probably should just go ahead and delete this post altogether. luckily for you, i've got some time to kill. Movies i loved, '09:. Where the wild things are. A dark children's movie?

Yesterday when I was setting out all of our Christmas stuff, I came across this craft Ben made for me last year in cubs. And it reminded me of the one I made years and years ago at the girl's club I went to for most of elementary school. And even if most of them weren't actually mean, they ignored me. And I just. A Little Stone Cottage. Musings from an old stuff addict. The bees are settling in for the night, but I caught a few buzzing around the quince. And on the Spiraea, there were bumble bees, honey bees, and a wide assortment of other little bugs just pollinating their little hearts out. Nice to know we’re contributing to the health of the bee population by avoiding yard work and watching them buzz around. May 8, 2015.
