On one of our recent visits to Thailand by chance we came across the documentary Living with the Tiger - an intimate and moving story created by Mike Thomas about children of 'Baan Gerda' the orphanage set up in rural Thailand in order to nurse sick children back to health and give them a chance of a normal life. To promote and protect the physical and mental health of orphans suffering from HIV/AIDS in Myanmar, through the provision of financial assistance and support. Also to advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to HIV/AIDS. Our project at the moment is an orphanage in Kyaikkhami, Mon State, Myanmar operated by Burmese Nun Sister Martha. During our first year we managed to raise and send over to Burma 25000 which were used to build this Centre for AIDS orphans and to buy and renovate a small house in Kawthoung which now is used as a Drop in Centre. A new Centre for the AIDS orphans in Kyaikkhami. Children from the Care Centre celebrating Parent's day with local school children. Pictures from our last visit in March - children in their new Home. A new patient arrived at the Drop In Centre at Kawthoung over Christmas. This is a border town with Thailand and a real hot spot with 15% of the population being infected with HIV/AIDS. At least 30 to 35 children desperately need treatment. Three more children with AIDS arrived to the orphanage in June. Three more lives will be saved. The girl in the picture is called May, she is 16 and studying in 5th grade. She is partually deaf. Both of them are now on ART and are keeping well. Thank you, Ray!
